A days-old Polymarket account was reported to have made about $9 million against Spain. Here's what the record shows.

What to take away

  • CoinDesk (Shaurya Malwa, 16 Jun 2026, 7:45/8:01 a.m. ET): a days-old account named fishalive turned about $4 million into a profit of more than $9 million on two Spain-Cabo Verde contracts. Their count, from Polymarket data they reviewed.
  • Public profile opened 16 Aug 2026 ~12:12 p.m. EDT: joined Jun 2026, 2 predictions, positions $0.00, biggest win $4.8 million. Wallet path 0xed64a7bf029040aa331abc87902434d815ef217d.
  • Same-hour leaderboards: all-time overall rank 7 and sports rank 5 at +$9,063,378. Profile $4.8 million, CoinDesk more-than-$9-million, and that P&L are three objects. Do not average.
  • Lookonchain feed CoinDesk cited opened as Predict.fun, not Polymarket. Inside information is UNKNOWN. Not a copy-trade.

On 16 June 2026, CoinDesk — Shaurya Malwa, published 7:45 a.m. ET, updated 8:01 a.m. ET — printed that a days-old Polymarket account named fishalive turned about $4 million into a profit of more than $9 million after Spain drew 0-0 with Cabo Verde. That is their count, from Polymarket data they reviewed. It is not a number we counted.

The same story printed how the account used the match: two contracts. One wagered that Spain would not win outright. The other was a spread — Cabo Verde would stay within 2.5 goals. When the match ended 0-0, CoinDesk wrote, both paid. The wallet redeemed about $4.7 million on the Spain market and $8.5 million on the spread, for a one-day profit of roughly $9 million.

CoinDesk attributed the two-bet description to Lookonchain. We opened Lookonchain this run. The page we got, dated 16 June 2026 08:33:28, is about Predict.fun, not Polymarket, and prints different objects (an 8-minute $4.5 million trade; a trader named Avenger). We are not going to launder that page into a Polymarket confirmation.

The public profile still exists. We opened it on 16 August 2026, about 12:12 p.m. EDT.

fishalive: joined Jun 2026, 73.7 thousand views, positions $0.00, biggest win $4.8 million, 2 predictions, no positions found. The wallet path on the leaderboard row is 0xed64a7bf029040aa331abc87902434d815ef217d.

The all-time overall profit leaderboard we opened the same hour printed a different single-account number: fishalive rank 7, +$9,063,378, volume $13,281,460. The sports all-time profit board printed the same P&L at rank 5. Those are 16 August 2026 rows. They are not labeled as a 15 June one-day haul.

The same overall board’s “Biggest wins all time” list printed two unlabeled pairs for this username: Spain vs. Cabo Verde - More Markets $3,790,130 / $8,540,656, and Spain vs. Cabo Verde $427,952 / $4,740,804. The page does not say which number is cost and which is payout. CoinDesk’s redemption figures — about $4.7 million and $8.5 million — sit next to the second number in each pair. We will not invent a third arithmetic to force a match.

The resolved event page, opened this run, prints Spain 0, Cabo Verde 0, FINAL, and $64.43 million volume. CoinDesk printed about $64 million traded on the Spain match. The moneyline bucket on that page shows $32.5 million; spreads $19.8 million. Those are as-of 16 August 2026 snapshots of a resolved event, not a live book. Settlement on the page follows 90 minutes plus stoppage; extra time and penalties are excluded. Resolution follows the written terms. The event page and the market page are not the same object.

On the other side, CoinDesk printed that betoor619 lost nearly $1 million after putting almost $1.1 million on a Spain win when the market priced the favorite at about 92%, for a potential gain of only about $85,000. The public betoor619 profile we opened the same hour does not display that loss. It shows joined Oct 2025, 40 predictions, biggest win $8,686.11, positions $0.00. The $1 million figure stays CoinDesk’s, from records they said they reviewed. We did not re-open those fills.

Whether the account had inside information is UNKNOWN. CoinDesk asked the question. The public pages do not answer it.

If you came here because a thread treated one username as a $9 million screenshot, the useful move is smaller than picking a side. Name the object. CoinDesk’s more-than-$9-million one-day profit is one object. A 2026 all-time leaderboard row of +$9,063,378 is another. The profile widget’s $4.8 million biggest win is a third. Most addresses on this venue are not in realized profit — 15.9% in Sergeenkov’s all-address cut through 1 April 2026, about 30% in other public cuts — and a named World Cup wallet does not rewrite that literature. The Losing game, except companion is the same ladder, not a second rate.

What a reader cannot copy

You cannot copy the fill. The 15 June 2026 Spain–Cabo Verde book is closed. The next match is not that contract.

You cannot copy the fee path. What this wallet paid in spread, gas, or taker fees is UNKNOWN. A Yes+No sum that looks like a dollar is still not a lock.

You cannot copy the account. A days-old username is not a person we identified. The Lookonchain page we opened is a different venue.

You cannot copy the next event. Two predictions on a resolved 0-0 is not a system for the match on the screen tonight.

This is not a system. It is a set of pages, with dates, that do not agree on which dollar is the win.
